Today is the beginning of one of my favorite weekends of the year--the Great Backyard Bird Count! Everyone can do it: Look up the how-to's here. Even if you can spare only 15 minutes in the whole weekend to count birds, your count will contribute to science and can be great fun, especially if you have kids or grandkids to help.
